Announcing the Hyperweb Whitepaper

Bridging the Gap Between Web2 and Web3

The web is evolving, and blockchain technology is finally stepping out of its isolated silo to become a seamless part of the developer ecosystem. Today, we are excited to announce the release of the Hyperweb Whitepaper, outlining our vision for a fully integrated, TypeScript-first approach to blockchain development.

For too long, blockchain programming has been accessible only to those willing to learn niche languages like Solidity and Rust. This has created an unnecessary bottleneck—while there are approximately 24,000 blockchain developers worldwide, there are over 20 million JavaScript developers who could be building decentralized applications if only the barriers were removed.

The whitepaper introduces the Hyperweb Virtual Machine (HVM), our new addition to the Interchain JavaScript Stack that enables developers to write and execute smart contracts using JavaScript/TypeScript, the world’s most popular development language. This marks a significant shift: just as JavaScript runs on virtually every website today, Hyperweb’s TypeScript-powered smart contracts will execute across multiple blockchain ecosystems, including Ethereum, Solana, and Cosmos.

The Interchain JavaScript Hub

At its core, Hyperweb builds on years of collaboration between Confio (creators of CosmWasm) and Hyperweb (formerly Cosmology). Both teams were part of the Distributed Development Teams that the Interchain Foundation works with to build the Interchain Stack.

This partnership has powered some of the most critical Web3 infrastructure, with our tools and platforms supporting over 200 blockchains. Industry leaders like dYdX, Celestia, and Osmosis—platforms that process billions in monthly transactions—rely on our solutions. Now, we’re expanding that foundation with the Interchain JavaScript Hub, a universal execution layer that will enable smart contracts to interact across multiple blockchain networks effortlessly.

What This Means for Developers

With Hyperweb, developers will be able to:

  • Write once, deploy anywhere: TypeScript smart contracts will be natively cross-chain, eliminating the need to rewrite code for different ecosystems.
  • Use familiar tools: No need to learn Solidity or Rust. Hyperweb allows developers to leverage their existing JavaScript and TypeScript expertise.
  • Eliminate blockchain complexity: With our no-chain philosophy, developers can focus on building products rather than navigating blockchain intricacies.
  • Build with an end-to-end TypeScript ecosystem: Hyperweb integrates infrastructure, client tools, and smart contract frameworks into a unified platform that simplifies blockchain application development.
  • Leverage modular developer tools: A suite of powerful tools—including Telescope (TypeScript SDK generator), Interchain Kit (wallet adapter), and Interchain JS (universal signing client)—makes blockchain development more accessible.
  • Automate CI/CD & testing: Tools like Starship provide built-in CI/CD workflows and testing environments, streamlining smart contract deployment and ensuring reliability.
  • Unify Web2 and Web3 development: Hyperweb seamlessly integrates traditional web development with blockchain, enabling a frictionless developer experience.
  • Deploy cross-chain smart contracts: Developers can create smart contracts that function seamlessly across multiple blockchains without the need for ecosystem-specific modifications.

This whitepaper is more than just a technical document—it’s a manifesto for the future of blockchain development. The Web has always been at its best when it is open, interoperable, and accessible. Hyperweb embodies these principles, bringing blockchain technology in line with the modern web development stack.

This is just the beginning. As we continue to build, refine, and roll out new tools, we invite the developer community to join us in shaping the next generation of the Web. The Hyperweb Whitepaper is now available for download—read it, explore it, and be part of the movement to make the web whole again.
